Coffee at the Claptons
This is a photo that I took on July 25, 1986, in the "back yard" (estate) of Patti Boyd and Eric Clapton's house in the UK. Ronnie Lane, Stanley Lane, and I were visiting them and had a lovely day and night. We had a great time, and we hung out as I do with my friends in Austin. We bought Indian food, brought it back to their house, and watched the British show, "Splitting Image," on television in a small comfy kitchen. It was so much fun, and we had so many laughs. We also celebrated my birthday with everyone singing "Happy Birthday" on the front steps before departing for London.
I didn't take any photos inside the house or of our hosts; I felt it was opportunistic, but I did take pictures on the grounds outside. I've looked at this photo so many times over the years, and when I recently looked at it again, I noticed a coffee cup on the steps. It's funny that I never saw it until Zed, my son, pointed it out to me. It added a warm and homey feeling to the photo, and it meant something different to me than when I took the picture so many years ago.
